Teams of special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and New York City police, assisted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Marshals Service and New York State Police, arrested 14 people on 12/15/13 on federal firearms and
narcotics violations in a series of raids throughout the Co-op City housing development in the Bronx.

The arrests came after a 12-month undercover operation spearheaded by the
ATF-NYPD Joint Firearms Task Force (JFTF), during which ATF undercover operatives purchased 16 handguns and drugs from the suspects. Three suspects remain at large and are wanted on federal arrest warrants. The fugitives, all wanted for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a narcotics charge (18 USC 924 (C)), are identified as:

- Michael Brown, aka "Cheeks," 23, 120 Alcott Place, Bronx, N.Y.
- Jared Gomes, aka "JG," 26, Asch Loop, Bronx, N.Y.
- Robert Jones, 23, 140 Bellamy Loop, Bronx, N.Y.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of any of the fugitives
should call the ATF Gun Center at (718) 650-4070. All calls will be kept confidential.

"Today's arrests were made possible by diligent investigative efforts and supported by information we received from the public through Project Safe Neighborhoods," said William G. McMahon, Special Agent in Charge of ATF's New York Field Division. "ATF is committed to combating firearms violence and today's arrests are another example of the Joint Firearms Task Force's commitment to make our communities safe."

The partnership between ATF and the NYPD has been solidified for more than 15 years with the Firearms Task Force. Its primary goal is to interdict illegal crime guns coming into New York City. Since its inception, the group has taken hundreds of illegal guns off the streets, identified firearms traffickers and uncovered straw purchasers from other states. "Today's arrests
demonstrate the value of teamwork and smart policing," McMahon said.

All those arrested today will appear before a U.S. Magistrate in Federal
Court in Manhattan. The case is being prosecuted by the office of Michael Garcia, United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. McMahon also commended the contributions of ATF's partner law enforcement agencies, specifically the efforts of the New York City Police Department led by Commissioner Raymond Kelly, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Special Agent in Charge John Gilbride, the U.S. Marshals Service-SDNY and Marshal Joseph Guccione, the New York State Police and Superintendent Wayne Bennett and the New York State Division of Parole and Director Angelo Jimenez.

The investigation is part of a U.S. Department of Justice national initiative known as Project Safe Neighborhoods, which combines the efforts of federal, state and local law enforcement to fight gun violence.
