MTA approves bus service upgrades for commuters in Co-op City

After three years of long waits and long walks, bus riders in Co-op City, Bronx, New York have a reason to celebrate.

The MTA has approved a number of transportation changes that will improve bus service to the area following route reductions caused by budget cuts in 2010.

Transportation officials analyzed the existing service for Coop City in response to a number of complaints and requests from Co-op City Community Board 10. It has now released a set of recommendations, which include realigning the Bx23 route to connect all parts of Co-op City at all times, adding a stop at Asch Loop and Adler Place and another stop at Co-op City Boulevard and Dreiser Loop East.

The MTA expects the upgrades to take effect sometime this summer.
